The Mandalorian And Grogu trailer brings Star Wars back to the big screen in a blockbuster adventure

It has been 2,104 days since we last saw a Star Wars movie hit the big screen, people. And in the nigh-on six years since The Rise Of Skywalker hit cinemas, it would be safe to say a lot has changed in that galaxy far, far away — not least the emergence of two of that universe's greatest new heroes, Din Djarin and Grogu, in Jon Favreau's wildly popular Disney+ series The Mandalorian. And so it is with great excitement (and just a little nervousness) that we have been awaiting our beloved duo's cinematic debut in the aptly titled The Mandalorian And Grogu next year. Thankfully, if the newly released first trailer for Favreau's blockbuster sci-fi adventure is anything to go by, then we're in for a treat in 242 days' time. Check it out below;

Anzellans! (Hey-heyyy!) AT-ATs! A Sigourney Weaver played New Republic commander! Zeb Orrelios wrecking Imps! And a disconcertingly gelatinous-yet-muscly first look at Jeremy Allen White as Jabba the Hutt's jacked son Rotta! As Pedro Pascal's Mando himself so succinctly says in the first trailer for The Mandalorian And Grogu, "Impressive!" Now, as you'd expect, this first teaser for Din Djarin and his pint-sized, Force wielding adoptive son's long-awaited return to our screens after The Mandalorian Season 3's emotional finale isn't exactly plot-heavy, but what it does do is put a big ol' exclamation mark on the movie's build-up as a capital 'B' Blockbuster event — one filled with new alien critters, new worlds, a new Razor Crest, explosive action, and Ludwig Göransson taking his iconic space-ghetti Western Mando score and cranking it up to 11 for its theatrical debut.

In the absence of more plotty revelations from this first teaser, the Star Wars website's newly updated synopsis for The Mandalorian And Grogu offers some hint as to what we can expect here: "The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu (as himself)."

What's more, the distinctly retro first poster for the movie confirms Favreau's gunslinging, gung-ho blockbuster aspirations for his Mandoverse movie. Check it out;

And so, well under a year out from Mando and Grogu's big screen debut, many questions abound as to what our favourite space father-and-son duo's next adventure has in store. Is Sigourney Weaver's New Republic commander all she seems? What's the deal with Rotta the Hutt? And is a return for Giancarlo Esposito's Moff Gideon — or even just a clone of him (we're not fussy, honestly) — totally out of the question? Well, we'll find out the answer to at least some of these questions when The Mandalorian And Grogu flies into cinemas — and IMAX ones, no less — on 22 May, 2026. This is the way!
