Empire’s Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man covers revealed

by admin

Hats off to Steven Knight and Cillian Murphy: with Peaky Blinders, they created an absolute phenomenon. On the small screen, the Birmingham-set gangster story saw Tommy Shelby and his crew rise up in the aftermath of World War I. They feuded with the Italian Mob, ran an illegal gambling scheme, entered the underground booze business, and intersected with major points in British (and global) history. Then, with Series 6, it went out in a blaze of glory. Until now. Tommy Shelby is riding back into town for Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man – a feature film follow-up to the show, with cinematic ambitions to match. It’s World War II, a new generation of the Peaky Blinders, and the return of Cillian Murphy in one of his most iconic roles after his Oppenheimer Oscar win. Flatcaps on, people.

This month’s issue of Empire is a world-exclusive look at Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man – speaking to Knight and Murphy about super-sizing their ambition on a Peaky story like no other. They tell us about what drags Tommy Shelby back into the fray, how they’re taking the saga to a whole new scale, and tease what The Immortal Man means for the recently-announced follow-up series to the original show. Plus, we speak to Barry Keoghan and Rebecca Ferguson as they enter the world of Peaky for the first time, teasing information on their brand new characters. It’s the ultimate inside look at an incoming British gangster epic, packed with never-before-seen images.

Plus, we unite Matt Damon and Ben Affleck to talk Hollywood and their decades-long friendship, enter The Bone Temple as Nia DaCosta continues the 28 Years Later saga, celebrate the French New Wave with Nouvelle Vague director Richard Linklater, get intergalactic with Project Hail Mary, step up to the ping pong table with Marty Supreme – and much, much more. It’s not to be missed.
